"Waves and Other Experiences …"
Is the debut´s project of the cinematographer Joseph Jr Amarílio in fine art. A series of photographs that record the Rio de Janeiro and other places seen from the water. This experience has resulted in two national collective exhibitions: Metara Rio + 20 and Article (both in 2012), 1st prize by the jury in National Photo Contest Green Nation Fest 2012 and a collective international exhibition in Berlin in 2014.
Katsushika Hokusai, is my eternal inspiration, and of course, the photographic work of Clark Little Hawaiian, my two biggest influences (those that I perveive and I assume at least). I try to capture the power that nature prints through the strength and speed of the water in my work here in Rio de Janeiro, just as they did in the XIX century on Mount Fuji in Japan or Hawaii nowadays. I want to sincerely expose my intuitive art and not my art school, my unconscious skill and cinematography to register these landscapes and these moments. Over the past few years I have been photographing the great symbols of Rio and Brazilian landscape viewed from a new point of view, into the water.
